Highway 407 East Expansion (Phase 1)

Project Overview

Estimated Construction Value: CAD - $1Bn

Phase 1 of the Highway 407 East Expansion extended the highway 22 kilometres from Brock Road in Pickering to Harmony Road in Oshawa. This project included the construction of Highway 412, a 10-kilometre connector between Highways 401 and 407.

The expansion aimed to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in the Durham Region, facilitating better movement of goods and people across the eastern GTA. The project was completed with a focus on environmental sustainability and community engagement.

The project was built using a public-private partnership and emphasized sustainable construction practices. It laid the foundation for Phase 2 and remains a crucial corridor for economic activity in Durham Region.

This was not undertaken by Infrastructure United. However, several of our team members contributed to this project prior to joining our organization. Their experience and expertise gained from such projects enhance the capabilities we offer to our clients today.
